On Wednesday 13 June, was held the awards ceremony for the winners of the 11th edition of the Youth and Mobility competition, which this year focused on road safety and coexistence between cars, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians. The event was held in Barcelona, in the headquarters of REAL AUTOMÓVIL CLUB DE CATALUÑA (RACC).
This year’s edition was attended by 1,698 participants, all students from ESO, Bachillerato and High School and Intermediate Training Cycles from 68 schools and institutes throughout Catalonia. The participants, distributed in 611 groups, delivered 772 works, of which 244 were opinion articles, 326 graphic advertisements and 202 video stories on “Road safety and coexistence between different ways of moving around: car, motorcycle, bicycle, pedestrians”, which was the central theme.
Josep Mateu, president of the RACC Foundation, opened the presentation by highlighting the good participation data and the quality of all the works presented, and pointing out that this year he wanted to strengthen participation in the educational centres of the Lleida, Girona and Tarragona districts. In its eleven-year history, the “Youth and Mobility” competition has attracted some 15,000 participants, who have submitted more than 10,000 entries.
The award-winning schools of this year’s edition are Col·legi Maristes Valldemia, Institut La Garrotxa, Institut Antoni Torroja and La Salle Cassà. The works have been awarded by the jury not only for their presentation, but also for their originality and creativity. The winning groups took a GO-PRO camera and the winning class a one-night stay at PortAventura World.
